perspective shift

So it seems most of my thoughts come from or center around things I've been reading lately....I guess that's ok. At least they aren't based on what I've been watching on TV. :O)

That said, I'm reading this INCREDIBLE book called In A Pit With a Lion on a Snowy Day by Mark Batterson. (Thanks, Lawlor.) Not that I really have any reason to question God's timing (particularly at this junction in my life), but if I were to ever have read THE book at THE right time...this is it. I seriously want to go out and buy this book for everyone I know. (If you get a copy in the mail, I went ahead and did that, just FYI.)

The premise of this book is "how to survive and thrive when opportunity roars". Yet, it really goes WAY beyond that. I have to tell you...my mind is being cracked open a bit...maybe even blown apart a bit. I think what got me last night when I was reading was the whole concept of a perspective shift. This is something I have been dealing with for a while...just didn't really know it until I was able to get a solid definition...see it in print...wrap my brain around it...understand what God was truly trying to say to me in it. Anyway, I won't go into detail about the whole perspective shift I'm going through, but it's just a super encouraging time. And really, who doesn't need encouragement every once in a while?! :O)

So, on the off chance I don't buy copies of the book for everyone I know and love, GO GET A COPY FOR YOURSELF...

Books I am reading....or going to read in the very near future

I don't know about you, but I tend to get in over my head when thinking about reading books. I get really excited about a new book and then get half-way through and find another book I want to start reading. So, my goal for the rest of this year is to actually FINISH a book and then start a new one. It's a crazy new concept the kids are kickin' around these days....I'm going to jump onboard and see what it's like!

That said, here are the books I have started reading or will be reading over the next...hmm, let me open up my calendar...97 days (I can't count Dec. 26-31 since I will be in Africa and will probably be pretty busy).

If you click on the images of the books, I've linked them to different things....could be the author's page, could be a link to buy the book (or info about the book) or could be something associated with the book that I have found interesting. For instance, on Sacred Pathways, I've linked to an assessment test that my work put together. Once you take it, you can then read/use the book to get more info on yourself and the way you connect with God through worship...it's pretty cool. I think I will make that my second book to read, after It's Not Ok With Me.

Well, now that I have effectively spent over an hour on one blog (those pics & links took a long time to find and put together, thank you very much...so, at least do me the courtesy of checking them out!), I will go on to other business!

Peace!
